KUALA LUMPUR: A new study by Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) has proposed the introduction of a monthly childcare allowance of RM100 to Malaysian households, a move that is conservatively forecast to increase the country’s economic growth by 0.4% within one year of implementation.

The think tank, however, said the monthly allowance should be restricted to households that send their children aged up to four years to registered childcare centres.
