BNM international reserves rise to US$103.5bil at Aug 30

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara's international reserves rose US$400mil to US$103.5bil as at Aug 30, 2019, from RM103.1bil on Aug 15.

“The reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.6 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt,” it said.

The main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$97.1bil), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.2bil), special drawing rights (US$1.1bil), gold (US$1.8bil) and other reserve assets (US$2.3bil).
