Sime Darby Plantation plans full exit from Liberia

PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (SDP) is targeting to make a full exit from its loss-making oil palm and rubber plantation operation in Liberia, West Africa by the end of this year.

Its new managing director Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha said the plantation group is currently negotiating with three parties to take over 10,500 ha of fully planted estates in Liberia with prime oil palm trees between six to seven years old.
