KUALA LUMPUR: Earnings at Datasonic Group Bhd climbed for fifth consecutive quarters on higher delivery of smart cards and better cost control.
Net profit for the three months ended June 30 almost doubled to RM14mil compared with RM7.4mil made in the same first quarter last year.
Revenue was up by 19.5% to RM58.3mil, the company said in filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
"The management has continuously negotiated for better competitive pricing for purchases of the required materials and services from suppliers coupled with the prevalent cost control initiatives implemented in the administration of the group's operations," Datasonic said.
It added that current order book of RM722mil will have a positive impact on revenue generation in future operations.
"The prospects for growth are expected to be satisfactory in the financial year ending March 31, 2020 (FY20) barring any unforeseen circumstances.
For the first quarter just ended, earnings per share was 1.04 sen compared with 0.55 sen previously.
Datasonic has declared an interim dividend of 0.75 sen a share.
