PETALING JAYA: Ports underpinned MMC Corp Bhd’s surge in net profit in the second quarter ended June 30 besides gain on disposal of an asset held for sale and lower administrative costs.
MMC said its net profit jumped 234% to RM67.22mil from RM20.07mil for the quarter, mainly due to a higher contribution from Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), and lower operating costs at Johor Port Bhd and Northport Malaysia Bhd.
Its revenue rose 2.4% to RM1.23bil from RM1.20bill a year ago due to the higher volume handled at PTP.
