New logistics providers jump on the bandwagon

GD Express' customised hub in Petaling Jaya is a hive of activity at about 1am every day as it sorts consignments from its service stations scattered across the Peninsular and East Malaysia.

Competition in the logistics space is heating up. But it is taking on a new dimension – the entry of well-funded startups looking to cash in on the growing e-commerce trends.

Driven by shift in consumer behaviour towards online purchases, the e-commerce market in Malaysia is expected to grow to US$12.9bil (RM53.6bil) by 2022, compared with US$8.9bil projected for 2019, according to Fitch Solutions.
