KUALA LUMPUR: Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN) has launched the PruBSN WarisanPlus -- a protection plan premised on the concept of mutual assistance, which provides Malaysians with high value coverage to secure the financial future of their loved ones.

PruBSN WarisanPlus is the enhanced version of PruBSN's award-winning product, PruBSN Warisan, which was launched in October 2016.

The latest product from PruBSN offers a high coverage, starting from RM250,000 in the event of a death or total and permanent disability (TPD).

PruBSN acting chief executive officer, Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail said millions of families in Malaysia are still relying on a sole breadwinner to provide their day-to-day living expenses and to manage their finances.

"PruBSN WarisanPlus is a legacy solution that will provide high cash benefits when unfortunate events happen.

"This can be a replacement for a person's income that can be used to pay for alternative medical treatments, caretaker bills, as well as for debt settlement, among others," he told reporters at the launch of the product here today.

Wan Saifulrizal said when a breadwinner passes away, there may still be outstanding financial obligations to be met.

"Even if you already have a life coverage, it might not be sufficient.

"This is why it is critical to have adequate financial support and wealth protection to ensure peace of mind when dealing with unforeseen or unpredictable situations,” he said.

PruBSN WarisanPlus is also designed for parents looking to secure their child's future education and protection needs at an early age, with the eligible entry age starting from as young as age one up to 70.

Customers also have the flexibility to extend their coverage up to the age of 100, subject to additional contributions.

Additionally, the plan offers customers financial protection of up to 400 per cent of the sum covered in the event of an accidental death, as well as protection against 14 infectious diseases.

Customers can also take advantage of the various supplementary benefits, known as "riders”, to enhance their coverage for specific needs.

For example, in the case of critical illness riders, customers will receive a lump sum payment upon the diagnosis of any of a list of 43 critical illnesses.

Customers can also attach saver riders to their policy to increase their savings for their children’s education or other financial goal.

With the Haj/Umrah protection rider, customers will have additional death benefits of up to 200 per cent of the rider's sum covered for loss of life or TPD during Haj or Umrah, including immunisation benefits of up to RM300 every three years.

To further ease the family’s burden in the case of death, PruBSN WarisanPlus policyholder’s family will receive RM3,000 as death benefits to help cover funeral expenses.

Currently, only 41 per cent of Malaysians have some form of protection with an average coverage of RM56,000. - Bernama
