PETALING JAYA: Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) is exporting its first shipment of cars for the Asean region, estimated to arrive in the Philippines by month-end.

Under the joint-venture agreement between Groupe PSA and Naza Corp Holdings, the first batch of the Peugeot 3008 1.6L Active, awarded “European Car of the Year 2017”, will be exported to the Philippines.

Groupe PSA head of Asean and CEO of Naza Automotive Manufacturing Laurence Noel said the Peugeot 3008 with the Peugeot 5008 1.6 THP are targeted to be available in the Philippines with more than 4,000 units by 2023.

“The Philippines is the first Asean country where our cars manufactured at NAM is being exported to under the Asean Free Trade Area. More cars will be exported to other Asean countries soon,” she said in a statement.

In February 2018, Naza Corp Holdings and Groupe PSA signed a share sale agreement and a joint-venture agreement to officially establish shared operations of NAM’s plant in Gurun, Kedah, as the first manufacturing hub in Asean for Groupe PSA.

This marks the beginning of NAM distributing the brands under Groupe PSA – Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel – to the Asean region.
