Boustead Plantations appoints new board members

Scomi Group Bhd surprised investors when it proposed to revise its current issued share capital reduction from RM224.96mil to RM3mil from the earlier RM40mil.

PETALING JAYA: Boustead Plantations Bhd has appointed new members to its board effective July 22.

Tan Sri Aziah Ali was appointed as independent director. She was also recently appointed to the board of BOUSTEAD HEAVY INDUSTRIES CORP Bhd.

Datuk Syed Tamim Ansari Syed Mohamed was appointed as independent director. Syed Tamim’s areas of specialisation include managing oil palm plantations, from planting to the refinery of oil to retail sales and marketing of olein.

He also possesses significant experience in the banking and financial sector, as he was previously on the board of MALAYAN BANKING BHD (Maybank) and chairman of Maybank Fortis Holdings Bhd and ETIQA Insurance.

Datuk Chan Kong Yew and Datuk Ahmad Rizal Abdul Rahman, meanwhile, were appointed as independent directors.

Lastly, Datuk Seri Ghazali Mohd Ali was appointed as non-independent, non-executive director. Ghazali had previously served as the managing director of Syarikat Perumahan Pegawai Kerajaan Sdn Bhd, property director of Island & Peninsular Bhd and deputy director-general of the Urban Development Authority of Malaysia.
