KUALA LUMPUR: Gas Malaysia Bhd has announced that the average natural gas tariff after surcharge for the non-power sector in Peninsular Malaysia will increase 5.3% to RM34.66 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) from July 15- Dec 30 this year.
The revision, following a surcharge of RM1.92/MMBtu, applies to all tariff categories under the Gas Cost Pass-Through (GCPT) mechanism.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, it said the average base tariff is set at RM32.74 MMBtu from RM32.69 MMBtu currently. Gas Malaysia also clarified that the tariff revision is not applicable to sales of natural gas for natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplied in gas cylinders or in bulk supply. “While the tariff revision has no material impact on Gas Malaysia’s business operations, it is expected to contribute positively towards the company for the financial year 2019,” it said. — Bernama
