PETALING JAYA: The prestigious Spikes Asia Advertising Festival has launched the Young Spikes 2019 competitions in Malaysia allowing marketing communications professionals in Malaysia aged 30 or below a chance to gain recognition and make their mark.

Companies like AirAsia, unifi, QSR, Directors ThinkTank and Astro have come together to spearhead a challenge that is all about celebrating marketing communications excellence on a grand scale.

Industry associations supporting Young Spikes Malaysia are the Association of Accredited Advertisng Agents (4As), Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA), Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), Media Specialists Association (MSA) and the International Advertising Association (IAA).

"In teams of two, entrants race against the clock to prepare a pitch to a brief and win  Young Spikes Malaysia Gold, Silver or Bronze trophies. Gold winners get a prize trip to Spikes Asia 2019 in Singapore to compete on the Asia Pacific stage in late September.

Team registrations are now open for the digital, integrated, media and PR categories.

On July 31 and August 1, teams will come together to attend a one-hour Live briefing by the client-partner on the competition brief. Competition briefs are kept confidential until the Live briefing," said MARKETING magazine founder and communications/ad veteran Harmandar Singh. MARKETING magazine is the organiser of the event.

After that teams are given 24 hours (48 hours for the Integrated competition) to complete their proposals and submit PDF versions to the organiser.

At the live judging on August 3, each team will have 10 minutes to present their campaign idea to the jury. Live judging is for Integrated, Media and PR
categories only, as the Digital category will be evaluated by the judges separately.

The Young Spikes Malaysia awards ceremony will be held on August 14 at Taylor’s University lakeside campus, the official venue for all Young Spikes proceedings.

And Integrated, Media and Digital category winners will get exclusive all-expenses-paid passes to turn their ideas alive at the Reconnect Camp by Astro on Aug 24-25 at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa.

Deadline for team registrations is on July 15.
