DRB-Hicom unit sets up JV firm to provide R&D


At 5pm yesterday, DRB-Hicom shares jumped 43 sen to RM23.50, its highest since May 2014.

PETALING JAYA: DRB-Hicom Bhd, via unit Proton Edar Sdn Bhd (PESB), is setting up a joint-venture (JV) company to provide research and development (R&D), sales and services of vehicle connectivity, digital cockpit, safety, autonomous vehicle and Internet of Things (IoT) technology-related products.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, DRB-Hicom said PESB had entered into a JV agreement with Altel Communications Sdn Bhd and Ecarx (Hubei) Technology Co Ltd to form a proposed JV company.“The JV company is beneficial to (subsidary) Proton Holdings Bhd in gaining the technological know-how in high digital technology product and services in relation to automotive industry.
