MOSCOW: Renowned property developer SP Setia Bhd has once again been honoured with a World Gold Award at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2019 - this time for the Setia SPICE development in Penang.

The group received the prestigious award under the Purpose-Built category, marking SP Setia’s 11th World Gold award win to-date.

It also bagged two World Silver Awards - for Parque Melbourne in the Residential High-Rise Category and Circus West Village at Battersea Power Station, London in the Residential Mid-Rise Category.

Noting that the group remains the only Malaysian developer to have received up to 11 World Gold Awards, SP Setia president and CEO Datuk Khor Chap Jen said the achievement was made possible by the dedication and hard work of its 2,300-strong team.

“We are thrilled and honoured that our projects are recognised and placed on par with other world-class developments.

“Inspired by our ‘Stay Together. Stay Setia’ brand mantra, we have not only made a name for ourselves as the No. 1 pure-play property developer in Malaysia, but now also an eminent player on the world stage,” Khor said.

With the latest awards, SP Setia has also made history by becoming the first ever company to receive three FIABCI awards for projects located in three different continents in a single year.

Setia (Melbourne) Development Company CEO, Datuk Choong Kai Wai who received the World Silver Award for Parque Melbourne, said the accolade reaffirmed the group’s foresight in its expansion to Australia, and would gain the confidence of local buyers and foreign investors.

He added that the award would serve as an endorsement to the company’s other upcoming projects in Melbourne.

Battersea Power Station, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), Simon Murphy, who accepted the World Silver Award for Circus West, said the award was a testament to the group’s principles of creating an exceptional place to live in.

“We continue to make huge progress on creating a unique destination for London and restoring a world-famous icon that will be visited and enjoyed by many for generations to come,” he said.

During the event, a record 35 of the world’s top property developments were awarded, including six developments by Malaysian property developers.

Last year, SP Setia bagged three Gold awards for three projects at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2018 held in Dubai.

The three awards were in the Affordable Housing Category for the Seri Kasturi Apartment project in Setia Alam; Master Plan Category for the Setia Eco Glades project in Cyberjaya; and Sustainable Development Category for the Eco Sanctuary project in Singapore.
