Mohd Bakke to retire on June 30


KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Plantation Bhd’s (SDP) managing director Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh will retire on June 30 after serving the Group for close to nine years.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, it said Mohd Bakke would be succeeded by his deputy, Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha.

According to SDP, Mohamad Helmy was appointed the deputy managing director on January 1 this year, having previously served as chief operating officer (upstream) in 2017 and head of plantation services and special project in 2016.

He was also the head of plantation upstream of SDP before leaving in 2013 to set up Xcellence Alliance Sdn Bhd and Chemara Palmea Holdings Bhd.

SDP said Mohamad Helmy’s vast experience includes serving as Guthrie Property Holding Sdn Bhd’s finance and administration manager, chief executive officer of Highlands and Lowlands Bhd and Guthrie Ropel Bhd.

He was also instrumental in bringing about the completion of the acquisition and restructuring exercise of PT Minamas Gemilang plantation in Indonesia. - Bernama
