MAS-JAL collaboration seen as win-win

Support would include professional, emotional and financial support to assist them. Khazanah had, at the end of August, announced its 12-point plan to resuscitate the national airline which would see 6,000 jobs cut from its existing workforce of 20,000 employees.

PETALING JAYA: The proposed collaboration between Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Japan Airlines (JAL) would help both carriers improve their position and profitability on the Malaysia-Japan route, says CAPA Centre for Aviation chief analyst Brendan Sobie.

The collaboration allows both parties to coordinate scheduling and engage in joint pricing, and such tie-ups according to experts are common among airlines. It helps to boost sales and margins amid intense competition in most markets.
