Axiata unit in Nepal ordered to pay RM1.45bil tax

Analysts had said Axiata would have to accept the offer unless it was able to find a partner to fund a counterbid since M1 was a non-core asset. The 28.67% stake comprises 265.41 million shares.

KUALA LUMPUR: Axiata Group Bhd today said a unit in Nepal was ordered to pay 39.06 billion rupees (RM1.45bil) by the country's Large Taxpayers Office (LTPO).

The unit, Ncell Private Ltd, has been ordered to deposit the amount by Apr 22.
