TDM appoints Zainal Abidin as new group CEO


Terengganu state-owned plantation arm TDM Bhd has appointed Zainal Abidin Shariff as the new group CEO with effect from April 1.

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu state-owned plantation arm TDM Bhd has appointed Zainal Abidin Shariff as the new group CEO with effect from April 1.

He takes over from Datuk Mohamat Muda whose contract expired on Jan 31, 2019.

Zainal Abidin, 52, has 28 years of experience in the corporate sector, especially in operational management and transformation, finance, governance, taxation and audit.

TDM chairman Raja Datuk Idris Raja Kamarudin congratulated Zainal Abidin on his appointment. 

He said TDM has a responsibility to its shareholders to create and deliver value and it would be rolling out its value creation and business development plans.

Raja Idris said this was part of other initiatives to strengthen the group for sustained growth into the future. 

“Zainal Abidin was previously with The Incorporated Society of Planters as its chief executive. 

“His experience in the plantation industry and his expertise in change management are crucial skillsets to drive TDM’s value creation and business development plans and to deliver our aggressive targets that have been set by the board,” he said.

Zainal Abidin obtained his Master of Finance from RMIT University, Melbourne in 2006.
