PETALING JAYA: No definitive decision has been made yet to ditch the project delivery partner (PDP) model for the Pan Borneo Highway in favour to turnkey contractor model, says Works Minister Baru Bian.
He said the idea proposed to the cabinet was to replace the PDP model to another model to continue the remaining works on the mega project.
“It’s not a correct assumption that we will replace the PDP with turnkey project; that is a misconception,” he told reporters when met after launching the Industrialised Building System (IBS) Masterclass and Conference organised by the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association here yesterday.
It was earlier reported that the ministry would take over the project and turnkey contractors would be hired to replace the PDP to complete the remaining construction works for the 2,324 km Pan Borneo Highway project.
Explaining further, Baru said among other models that the government was considering were a special purpose vehicle and private initiative.
“All those are possible. So as I said, it’s premature to discuss that -- not until we make a decision on making a replacement,” he said. — Bernama
