TOKYO: Carlos Ghosn may be released from prison soon after posting US$8.9mil in bail, giving the fallen car titan his first taste of freedom since November and allowing him to ramp up his defense against charges of committing financial crimes.
The former Nissan Motor Co chairman could be out within hours, as long as authorities don’t seek to extend his detention by arresting him on new charges. On late Tuesday night, a Tokyo court rejected the prosecution’s appeal against Ghosn’s release.
