KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has announced the retirement of Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid as chief executive officer of The New Straits Times (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) at the end of this month.
Jalil, 60, joined NSTP as group managing editor in October 2011 and was appointed to his current position in March 2017.
“Jalil had informed the board and management of Media Prima of his intention to seek retirement,” the company said in a statement today.
Media Prima also said that Mustapha Kamil Mohd Janor, the company’s executive director of news and editorial operations, will assume the role of interim CEO at NSTP effective April 1.
He will be assisted by Datuk Yushaimi Maulud Yahaya as NSTP’s chief operating officer. Yushaimi, 50, will assume his new post on April 1.
“Yushaimi, who is currently NSTP’s editor-in-chief, has more than 26 years of experience in the news industry having served in various editorial roles within NSTP and the Malay Mail Sdn Bhd,” it said.
