AWC accepts contract for RM29.87m job from Lendlease

AWC also highlighted plans to use Trackworks as a platform to venture into rail asset management.

KUALA LUMPUR: Engineering services provider AWC Bhd has been awarded a RM29.87mil contract by Lendlease Projects (M) Sdn Bhd for a proposed commercial mixed development at Jalan Tun Razak / Jalan Davis in Kuala Lumpur.

The proposed commercial mixed development comprises four levels of shopping complex, three levels of car park, one level open landscape with retail space and one information centre and a future development plot.

The contract will commence immediately and is slated to be completed by June 21, 2021.

In a press release today, AWC group CEO and president Datuk Ahmad Kabeer said the group intends to participate in more upcoming parcels in the TRX Lifestyle Quarter by Lendlease, as the securing of project financing lends more confidence to the mega project.

“This contract from Lendlease is a milestone for us and brings our outstanding orderbook to more than RM1bil.

“The contract award from such an esteemed global player is a stamp of approval on our capabilities and expertise.

“AWC’s continued involvement in the iconic Tun Razak Exchange development cements our position as a premier engineering service provider,” he said.

An analyst commented that while the contract win is positive, it is within expectations as AWC is expected to win contracts worth RM200mil on an annual basis.

“Given AWC’s prior involvement in The Exchange 106 in TRX and the recently awarded contract from Lendlease, it is expected that contract flows from the TRX development will continue,” the analyst said.
