ATA IMS reports fire incident in JB factory

As the value of the company is tied to the performance of the company, it is in the interest of the warring shareholders to argue and fight outside the company.

KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out in a small section of one of ATA IMS Bhd's rented factories in Taman Gembira, Tampoi, in Johor Baru on Feb 8.

In a statement issued today, the group said the Fire and Rescue Department arrived promptly and brought the fire under control in the premise, which is occupied by ATA Industrial (M) Sdn Bhd.

According to the group, the fire affected "a small part of the storage room in the secondary process area".

It added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department while a police report has also been filed.

"The Company shall restore back the operations at the affected area as soon as possible," it said.

ATA IMS said its adjustors are currently assessing the value of the damage sustained during the fire, while all assets and inventory are adequately insured.

The group does not anticipate any major impact to its operations as the fire happened in only one small section of the factory while it has similar secondary processes in other operating factories.

"An additional announcement will be made once the exact value of the actual losses has been determined," it said.

As at 11am, shares in ATA IMS remained untraded, having ended at RM1.74 a share on Friday.
