Banking sector seen to remain lacklustre


The 25 basis point increase in the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) will benefit fixed deposit (FD) savers after the real rate of return on deposits will return to positive in 2018.

PETALING JAYA: The outlook for the banking industry in Malaysia remains lacklustre, as loan growth is expected to come in slower in 2019 compared to last year.

On that note, several brokerages have maintained their “neutral” stance on the local banking sector.
