Pizza On Fire plans expansion via franchising

JOHOR BARU: Local pizza brand, Pizza On Fire is aiming to use its franchising business as the main strategy to expand in the local marketplace which will also provide opportunities to collaborate with local entrepreneurs to grow the brand.

Founder Izmir Abdul Hamid, 34, started the business together with friends Faisal Hamzah, 34, and Muhamad Alfie, 38, and they wanted to show that local pizzas can have quality comparable to the best known brands in the market and at reasonable prices.

“We are in discussions with Perbandanan Nasional Bhd to franchise the brand. We believe in the brand’s potential and want to give the opportunity to other entrepreneurs to work with us to build the brand,” Izmir told Bernama in a recent interview.

Pizza On Fire currently has four outlets, located at Damansara Perdana (Selangor), Pantai Chenang (Langkawi), South Key (Johor Bahru) and the latest at Kota Damansara (Selangor).

Izmir said the franchise would operate in two models, the food court concept which required an investment of RM60,000 or a shop model (RM120,000).

“We hope to bring about the franchise model by end of the second quarter next year. For now, all three of our outlets are entirely funded by ourselves,” he said.

Izmir said the current plan would be to open 10 outlets in 2019. — Bernama
