PETALING JAYA: The Entrepreneur Development Minister has removed Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh (pic) as the Bank Rakyat chairman with immediate effect.
In a statement yesterday, it said the removal was due to his involvement in the original audit report of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Hence, whatever decision which Shukry had made during his tenure as the Bank Rakyat board chairman, and which could have implications on the bank, would be reviewed and cancelled if it affects the interest of the bank.
The statement said the minister would announce his replacement once it had been finalised.
Shukry was the former principal private secretary to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He was appointed to the helm of the bank in January last year.
