WITH global markets extending their rout this week in a steep sell-off on Tuesday (the Dow Jones was down 552 points) erasing gains from major equity benchmark gauges, are these huge reasons for investors to panic?

Affin Hwang Asset Management portfolio manager Lim Chia Wei (pic) says emerging markets have been declining since early-to-mid 2018 due to a stronger US dollar, higher bond yields, slowing economic growth and concerns surrounding the trade war. The sharp decline in oil prices in November has also contributed to the recent weakness.
