Singapore watchdog fines Uber, Grab US$9.5mil over merger


Toyota Motor Corp. will invest $1 billion in Grab Holdings Inc. in the largest bet by a carmaker in a ride-hailing provider.

SINGAPORE: Singapore regulators fined Uber Technologies Inc and Grab S$13mil (US$9.5mil) for antitrust violations after the Asian ride-hailing giant acquired its US rival’s regional operations.

Effective fares in the city state rose between 10% and 15% after the “anti-competitive merger,” the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore said in a statement.
