Bursa changes sectoral index and classification


Bursa Malaysia Bhd chairman Tan Sri Amirsham A Aziz and Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan at the official launch of Bursa Malaysia's new sector classification and sectorial index series.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has changed its sectoral index and classification that will pave the way for more investment products such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Under the new system, stocks listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia are classified into 13 sectors and then further divided into 42 sub-sectors.
