PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's labour force participation rate in July 2018 increased 0.1 percentage point to 68.6 per cent compared with the previous month, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the labour participation rate in July 2018 rose 0.9 percentage points year-on-year from 67.7 per cent.
“The number of persons in the labour force rose 2.6 per cent to 15.4 million compared with July 2017.
“During the same period, the number of employed persons increased 2.7 per cent after registering a 2.4 per cent growth in the previous month,” he said.
Mohd Uzir said July's unemployment rate remained at 3.4 per cent for two consecutive months but dropped 0.1 percentage point compared with the same month in 2017.
“The number of unemployed persons decreased 0.1 per cent to 518,600 persons compared with July 2017,” he added. - Bernama
