EPF warns of false RM6,000 incentive, fake website

The EPF reassured its members that it has a strong and robust governance framework in place to prevent fraud on its members

KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has warned the public to beware of a viral message about a RM6,000 incentive and which links to a fake EPF website.

The provident fund issued a statement on Tuesday about a viral message which claims that members who worked between 1990 and 2018 are entitled to a RM6,000 incentive from the EPF.

“The EPF categorically states that the viral message and contents are false and does not come from the EPF,” it said.

It also warned the message would link to the fake EPF website, asking people to respond to a survey to check for their entitlement to the alleged “incentive’”.

“The EPF believes that this is an attempt to phish for members’ personal data for fraudulent purposes,” it said.

It cautioned members not to respond to such surveys nor provide their personal data to any unverified third party, and also not to spread the chain message any further.
