HSL secures RM101.18mil contract from Petronas

KUALA LUMPUR: Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL) has secured a RM101.18mil contract from Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for a college campus in Bintulu through an open tender exercise.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, HSL said it received the letter of acceptance from Petronas for the proposed construction and completion of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The project is a part of Petronas’s Corporate Social Investment and KLCC Projeks Sdn Bhd is the project manager.

The project covers a 40 acre site of hilly terrain and the scope of works for HSL includes pilling, earth works, infrastructure works (including retaining structures), building works for academic purposes, administration, student hostels and related amenities as well as the associated mechanical and electrical works.

The contract period is 36 months and physical construction work is expected to commence in September 2018.

“This is a pleasing contract win for us and evidence that investments in Sarawak’s future are forging ahead,” HSL managing director Datuk Paul Yu Chee Hoe said in a separate statement.

“Securing a project of this considerable size at this juncture is significant for HSL and augurs well for our ongoing status as a leading construction firm in the state, while dispelling any negativity on the general outlook for the construction industry.

“Added to the RM3bil worth of projects we have in hand, this new project brings us to a record high order book of RM3.1bil with some RM2.5bil outstanding,” Yu said.
