JAKARTA: Indonesia's central bank raised its benchmark interest rate for the second time in two weeks on Wednesday and flagged more possible hikes as it escalated a battle to boost the fragile rupiah and contain capital outflows.

Bank Indonesia's new governor, Perry Warjiyo, pledged more action to promote financial and economic stability to bolster Indonesian assets amid an emerging market sell-off.
