Build culture of thrift – don’t spend money like water

THE old saying “don’t spend money like water” is becoming more relevant, with increased awareness of debt and repayments made by the government for 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The culture of thrift begins with the young; it is now urgent and imperative for all to practise thrift and shun the evils of overspending. In line with this theme, those responsible for government expenditure and management of taxpayers’ money should act carefully and conscientiously. All hands have to clap the austerity tune.
