KUALA LUMPUR: Blue chips extended their gains early Tuesday after the rollercoaster ride the previous day with local funds and retailers showing their confidence in the new Pakatan Harapan government.
At 9.14am, the KLCI was up 2.36 points or 0.13% to 1,852.78. Turnover was 430.35 million shares valued at RM333mil. There were 278 gainers, 177 losers and 190 counters unchanged.
Nestle was the top gainer, up RM2 to RM143.30, BAT added RM1.48 to RM29.86 and F&N added 46 sen to RM36.16.
Petronas Dagangan rose 68 sen to RM27.10 while Petron added 29 sen to RM9.79.
Top Glove rose 48 sen to RM10.62 and Hartalega 24 sen higher at RM6.24.
Opcom extended its rally, surging 23.5 sen to RM1.14. Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, is one of the main shareholders of this company while his brother Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir is the chairman and executive director at the firm.
However, George Kent tumbled 73 sen to RM2.03. The company is the project delivery partner for the Light Rail Transit project from Bandar Utama to Klang.
My EG fell 54 sen to RM1.27. It is well-known for its political connections with the previous ruling party.
Gabungan AQRS lost 24.5 sen to 87.5 sen.
