Takeover of SFI saves 1,500 jobs

KUALA LUMPUR: The RM1.2bil takeover of Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (SFI), an integrated pulp and paper manufacturing business, by Pelangi Prestasi Sdn Bhd will save the jobs of almost 1,500 Sipitang residents.

SFI said Pelangi Prestasi would retain the company’s existing workforce and had given its commitment to undertake the back wages of existing employees under the temporary layoff scheme.
