Short selling not to be blamed

Unisem, which plunged 18%, the biggest drop since the company

PETALING JAYA: On paper, Unisem (M) Bhd seems to be the first to feel the effects of the intraday short selling (IDSS) rule introduced by Bursa Malaysia. However, closer scrutiny suggests that the manufacturer of electronic components saw a heavy selldown of its stock because its results were bad.

Brokers said the sharp drop in Unisem’s share price on Wednesday was largely because it announced a poor set of results.
