Naza EC bags RM450m DBKL job to upgrade roads

Naza EC would build a fully elevated three-lane single carriageway road stretching 2.8 kilometres to complement the existing number of lanes on Jalan Tun Razak.

KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Engineering  and  Construction Sdn Bhd (Naza EC), a subsidiary of Naza Group of Companies, has won a design and build contract for major road upgrading works worth RM450 million from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Its Government and Special Projects Chief Operating Officer, Mohd Fuad Hashim said the contract involved works along Jalan Tun Razak linking Jalan Langgak Golf to the Kampung Pandan roundabout.

He said Naza EC would build a fully elevated three-lane single carriageway road stretching 2.8 kilometres to complement the existing number of lanes on Jalan Tun Razak.

"This elevated roadway is poised to greatly minimise ongoing traffic congestion during peak hours along Jalan Tun Razak, which is a prime exit point from the Kuala Lumpur city centre.

"It will facilitate effective dispersal of traffic from interconnecting roads, namely Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Kampung Pandan, Maju Expressway (MEX) and the future Setiawangsa Pantai Expressway," he told reporters at the groundbreaking ceremony here on Tuesday.

The event was officiated by Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan.

Mohd Fuad said according to the Traffic Impact Assessment, the elevated roadway could accommodate up to 2,400 vehicles daily during peak hours upon its completion in mid-2019 and would improve connectivity to the Tun Razak Exchange along the southern end of Jalan Tun Razak once it is fully operational.

Meanwhile, he said that Naza EC also has other ongoing projects in Bagan Datuk, Perak and Pengerang, Johor.

"Currently, we have around RM1.1 billion worth of ongoing projects and we are targeting to reach about RM3 billion order book by year-end,” he said, adding that the company was also in talks on a number of projects which were expected to materialise by the third quarter of this year. - Bernama
