Consumer stocks top gainers but can they hold?


KUALA LUMPUR: Consumer stocks were among the top gainers on Wednesday, rebounding from last week's heavy profit taking, leaving investors concerned if there could be another pullback.

At 5pm, the KLCI was up 9.41 points or 0.51% to 1,865.80. Turnover was 2.35 billion shares valued at RM2.44bil. The broader market was mixed with 437 gainers, 443 losers and 425 counters unchanged.

Foreign funds were net buyers at RM159.2mil but local institutions were net sellers at RM124.4mil and retailers RM34.8mil.
