Trading ideas: WZ Satu, Berjaya Food, Pestech, Zecon

KUALA LUMPUR: JF Apex Research expects WZ Satu Bhd, Berjaya Food Bhd, Pestech International Bhd and Zecon Bhd to generate trading interest following their latest corporate news.

WZ Satu has bagged two subcontract works totalling RM63mil for the construction and completion of mainline and other associated works of the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE).

Berjaya Food slipped into the red in its third quarter ended Jan 31 (3QFY18) results, posting a net loss of RM10.85mil, versus a net profit of RM4.68mil a year earlier, due to a one-off loss amounting to RM15.38mil arising from the disposal of its Kenny Rogers Roasters operations in Indonesia.

Excluding the one-off disposal loss, Berjaya Food said it would have posted a pre-tax profit of RM10.55mil in 3QFY18, up 22.4% from RM8.62mil in 3QFY17.

Pestech has aborted plans to jointly explore the setting-up of a power supply infrastructure to the Dongphosy Specific Economic Zone in Laos with Vientiane-based developer UPL Lao Co Ltd.

Zecon has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia to set a framework for both parties' activities in academic programmes and cooperation in areas of education, research and social services.

Meanwhile, US markets were ended mixed with the Dow rising but the S&P and Nasdaq closed slightly lower as concerns of a trade war with China continue to linger.

Earlier, European stocks advanced following stronger corporate earnings.

“Following the mixed performance in the US and Europe, the FBM KLCI is expected to consolidate and trend sideways above the support of 1,840 points,” JF Apex said.
