Sime Property picks Yuen as chief marketing and sales officer


Sime Darby Property Bhd has appointed Gerard Yuen Yun Wei as chief marketing and sales officer

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd has appointed Gerard Yuen Yun Wei as chief marketing and sales officer (CMSO) and Aravindan Devapalan Nair as the chief
assurance officer.

It said on Tuesday Yuen's appointment came into effect on March 1 and Aravindan's on March 5 as it strengthens its leadership team further.

Yuen was formerly the chief sales officer for Mah Sing Group Bhd. Prior to that, he was the head of sales and marketing for the property division of Sunway Group.

Yuen will report directly to the group managing director. He will oversee the planning, development and execution of the company’s marketing and sales initiatives.

During his tenure at Mah Sing, he led key marketing and sales initiatives for projects within the Klang Valley, Johor, Penang and Sabah.

Sime Property said as for Aravindan, he will focus on strengthening the company’s internal audit and corporate assurance function in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.

He reports directly to the governance and audit committee and the group managing director. 

Prior to joining Sime Property, he was the chief internal auditor of Wah Seong Corporation Bhd.

Aravindan is a Chartered Accountant with more than 14 years of experience with PwC and KPMG. He is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute Accountants (MIA).

Sime Property’s group managing director, Amrin Awaluddin said Yuen and Aravindan's “combined expertise and knowledge will certainly bolster the management team as we position the company for future growth”.
