KUALA LUMPUR: myNEWS Holdings Bhd has appointed Dan Tai Wen as the deputy chief executive of the group as part of the several key senior appointments as it forges ahead in its convenience retail, consumer services and ready to eat (RTE) food business.
It announced on Thursday that Dang was formerly the chief operating officer. He had been managing the group for 21 years in various areas including overseeing the operations of all outlets, branding concepts, project development, store designs and planning.
As the deputy CEO, he will lead the development of new markets, myNEWS customised label products and expansion of the group’s convenience retail presence locally and abroad.
“He will build upon the ongoing work in new markets capacity building, growth segments and operational efficiencies,” it said.
Also joining the board of myNews is Akito Nakatsuma who will take over Dang's former role as COO.
Nakatsuma has more than 14 years of business consulting experience in the retail and manufacturing sectors.
Prior to joining myNEWS, he was the executive vice president of Poplar convenience stores in Japan, leading their business transformation for five years.
At Poplar, he had built and realised a strategy focusing on ‘micro market’ model and built-in the merchandising and sales processes with big data analysis,.
In his new role at myNEWS, he will be in charge of operations of all outlets, merchandising, IT infrastructure, distribution and logistics, growth markets and business development.
Coming on board myNEWS is Azizah Mohamed, who will be the general manager, regulatory compliance and administration.
Azizah whad worked with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC).
At HDC where she was the general mamnager, she was involved in implementing the halal industry development programmes and contributed towards the drafting and development of Malaysia’s first Halal Industry Master Plan and Halal Industry Master Plan 2.0 previously,.
At myNEWS, she will be in charge of compliance and regulatory matters for the group and administration.
