Bursa releases third edition of corporate governance guide

Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan said the Corporate Governance Guide would enable listed issuers improve their corporate governance practices and reporting.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has released the third edition of the Corporate Governance Guide to enable listed issuers improve their corporate governance practices and reporting.

This move is in line with the new Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance (MCCG).

Bursa CEO Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan said on Thursday the issuance of a refreshed guide reflected Bursa's continuous commitment to ensure corporate governance is a core value in the capital market.

“This initiative is taken to ensure our market is always distinguished by its quality of corporate leaders and companies,” he said in a statement.

Tajuddin said the guide would help enhance sound corporate governance practices among listed issuers. This was crucial due to higher expectations of strong corporate governance, globally.

The guide was drawn up and finalised after engagements with various key stakeholders. It also provides  practical guidance and recommendations for listed issuers to apply when adopting the principles and practices in the MCCG, he said.

With the refereshed guide,  listed companies will be able to gain insight from case studies and illustrations. - Bernama
