Sime’s big day: (from left) Sime Darby Property Bhd managing director Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin, Wahid, Sime Darby Bhd group CEO Jeffri Salim Davidson, chairman Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, group chief financial officer Mustamir Mohamad, Sime Darby Plantation chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Othman and executive director cum managing director Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh hitting the gongs to mark of the listing of the three companies.

KUALA LUMPUR: The debut of the demerged Sime Darby companies on Bursa Malaysia turned out much the way many had predicted.

Sime Darby Bhd, the investment holding company of the industrial and motor businesses, roared upwards yesterday, but the gains were not enough to offset the losses by the plantation and property companies that made their new start on the stock exchange.
