RHB Bank’s financial relief plan for flood-hit customers in Penang

Group Managing Director, Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli, said the Indonesian market was good with banks recording stronger credit growth and higher return on equity compared to Malaysia's.

KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Bank Bhd is allowing its customers affected by floods in Penang to defer their loan installment and is waiving late charges for housing loans.

It said on Wednesday under a specially developed financial relief programme, customers can defer the payment of the loan installment for six months. It is also waiving late charges for housing loan and Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) financing.

RHB Bank also offered up to three months of extension of repayment on personal financing, auto finance and its “EASY” loans.

The banking group added that late payment charges and interest on affected credit cards would be waived for up to RM500 for three months.

As for SME loans, moratorium assistance requested by affected clients will be considered on a case by case basis and will be referred to its SME team.

The group managing director of RHB Banking Group, Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said the bank recognises the difficulties experienced by our customers affected by the floods in Penang.

“In reaching out to these affected customers to alleviate part of their concerns, the flood relief programme comes into immediate effect. We trust that this will help lighten their financial burden,” he said.
