Working for fun and some profit

AT 22, I was a biochemist working out of Ipoh General Hospital. Four years later, I was still there but married and my wife was a civil servant in Kuala Lumpur.

I applied in vain for a transfer to KL. No chance. The answer clearly lay in getting a different job. My wife suggested that since I was rather good at Scrabble, my true vocation might lie in writing. In such opinions are careers forged.
