Boustead Plantations defends planned acquisition

Better yield: Boustead Plantations says its implementation of good agricultural practices and high fertiliser inputs have resulted in improved yield of 21.1 tonnes per ha in 2016.

AT a glance, the RM750mil Boustead Plantations Bhd is forking out to acquire plantation land in Labuk and Sugut, Sabah, is a good deal, being 1.3% or RM10mil below the market value of the assets.

The assets, which include 11,579.31 ha of leasehold plantation land, as well as the buildings, equipment and other amenities, were valued at RM760mil by independent valuers just last month.
