Mitrajaya secures two construction deals worth RM377.5mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitrajaya Holdings Bhd has clinched a RM333.55mil contract to construct an academic building and car park for a higher learning institution in Kuala Lumpur.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the construction and property development group said its wholly owned subsidiary, Pembinaan Mitrajaya Sdn Bhd, had accepted its appointment as the contractor on Wednesday.

The company did not disclose the name of the higher learning institution.

Mitrajaya said the contract, to begin on Sept 15, was expected to be completed in two years.

In May, Pembinaan Mitrajaya had accepted an appointment as the contractor to build residential buildings also for an unnamed higher learning institution in the city. That contract was valued at RM160.01mil.

In a separate announcement, Mitrajaya said the same subsidiary had also bagged a RM43.91mil contract from Gema Padu Sdn Bhd to build three blocks of apartment residences, housing 338 units with built-up sizes ranging from 750 sq ft (Type B units) to 900 sq ft (Type C2 units) and amenities at Kota Warisan, Sepang, under the Rumah Selangorku scheme.

The contract, with a duration of three years, is expected to be finished by August 2020.

Gema Padu is a major shareholder of Mitrajaya Holdings’ subsidiaries, Eminent Earnings Sdn Bhd, Centennial March Sdn Bhd and Mitrajaya Equipment Resource Sdn Bhd, with 40% equity interest.

In February, Mitrajaya had inked an agreement with Gema Padu to jointly develop two pieces of land in Kota Warisan (21.55 acres and 20.15 acres) and 291.7 acres in Nilai. Mitrajaya has a 60% stake in these joint-venture projects.

Mitrajaya said the contract with Gema Padu was not regarded as a related party transaction.
