KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia and Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (Austrac) who are members of the International Community of Experts (ICE) Forum will be hosting its first International Financial Intelligence Units (FIU) Codeathon 2017 from Nov 18 to 19, 2017, in Kuala Lumpur.

The Codeathon is held in conjunction with the 3rd Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) Summit that will take place on Nov 20 to 23, 2017, as part of the continuous effort to integrate and maximise the benefits of information technology in countering terrorism financing.

The Codeathon provides a platform for the financial intelligence communities, law enforcement agencies and regulators to engage with tech experts from within and beyond the sector in gaining greater insight on new technologies, techniques and ideas to address terrorism financing challenges.

The event welcomes participation from the financial intelligence units, financial technology and regulatory technology communities, financial institutions as well as private individuals (software
developers, programmers, analysts, designers, engineers, students, or hobbyists).

The Codeathon is open to all individuals from the participating countries of the CTF Summit. The participants are given 32 hours to solve challenges that will be unveiled on the first day of the Codeathon.

The outcomes of the Codeathon, which may be presented in various forms including live applications or prototypes, will serve as precursors in constructing new and innovative digital solutions to curb the emergence of terrorism financing.

Participants may stand a chance to win several categories of prizes. The winners and outcomes of the Codeathon will be revealed at the Innovation Forum of the CTF Summit. The expression of interest for participation is now open.
