Mustapa: ‘Last year was a good year for electronics and semiconductor.

KUALA LUMPUR: The GLC ExplorAce 2017, an annual event that brings together local entrepreneurs and vendors, is expected to generate revenue of at least RM9 billion under the vendor development programme.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said that 21 anchor companies and 63 vendors from various sectors would participate in this year's event on Aug 8.

"We have anchor companies such as UEM Group Bhd which operate overseas. This will be an advantage to vendors wanting to participate in their projects in future.

"We want them to also move to the next level from this programme, to become national, regional and global champions,” he told reporters at the soft launch of GLC ExplorAce in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

Initiated by Miti, the GLC Explorace 2017, themed “Excelling In The Digital World”, will be held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre and is aimed at providing bumiputra small and medium enterprises with a platform to gain knowledge and pitch business ideas/proposals.

It is expected to draw about 3,000 trade visitors, up from 2,000 in 2016.

The annual event had generated RM28.1 billion in contract revenue from 2014 to 2016. - Bernama
