AirAsia earnings down in Q1 on higher fuel cost

PETALING JAYA: Increased passenger traffic lifted revenue at AirAsia Bhd in the first quarter ended March 31, but the airline’s earnings dropped on higher fuel cost.

For the first quarter ended March 31, 2017, AirAsia saw its net profit fell by 30% to RM615.8mil from RM877.79mil a year ago. Its revenue rose by 31% to RM2.26bil from RM1.70bil previously.
